Eat

City Diner - It’s a diner. If you’re not in the mood for breakfast, they make a great, classic double cheeseburger.

Jack Stack Barbeque - Multiple locations, and we visited the one in Country Club Plaza.

Pigwich - Located in City Market. Fast, affordable, and very, very good. I recommend the Big Pig sandwich, friend chicken topped with pulled pork, cheese, and fixins.

Q39 Barbeque - Multiple locations, and we visited the South restaraunt. If I could only eat at one barbeque place in Kansas City, this would probably be it. Don’t miss the beef burnt ends.

See

City Market - A small but diverse collection of restaraunts, markets (Ethiopian, Italian, and more), and shops. A good spot to pop into during the day.

Country Club Plaza - A mix of high end and casual shopping with a ton of food options, adjacent to Brush Creek and the Brush Creek walking trail. A nice place to visit and explore in the evening. If you’re visiting by car, take a drive down Wark Parkway to see some beautiful old homes.

National World War I Musuem & Memorial - We didn’t visit the museum, but the memorial is impressive and the views of Kansas City from the memorial and hill are terrific.

Negro Leagues Baseball Museum - For baseball fans, this is a must-see. Time it so that you can start by watching the 15 minute introductory video (hourly at :15 and :45). Moving, informative, and fun.
